Bruce retired from Maner Costerisan in 2017. Bruce served many roles at Maner Costerisan, Director of Audit Services, Director of Quality Control, Vice President, Treasurer, Director of Education Practice Group, Director of the CPA Firm Practice Group, Director of Marketing and Immediate Past President.
Beyond his leadership roles, he worked closely with a diverse group of clients including school districts, colleges, governmental entities, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, CPA firms and closely-held businesses. He was known throughout the firm, and by his clients and colleagues, as the “go to” expert for matters regarding education entities, peer reviews and CPA advisory services.
With over 35 years in the accounting and consulting field, Bruce assisted clients with a broad range of technical and advisory issues. His specific experiences include guiding a client through the process of locating and hiring a new CFO, and providing temporary outsourced controllership services. In addition, Bruce helped numerous clients implement new accounting software into their existing systems. He often shared his extensive knowledge of the industry by serving as a speaker for the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO). Bruce has also written several articles for the Greater Lansing Business Monthly magazine and the MICPA.
Before his professional career began, Bruce was confident that accounting would be the ideal fit because of the opportunity to work closely with people and to potentially be a business owner. He attributes his professional success to his parents, who instilled in him a quality work ethic and a philosophy of personal responsibility and accountability. Bruce also learned the value of hard work at an early age while spending summers picking potatoes for 10 cents per bushel.
Bruce was raised in the thumb area of Michigan and now lives in Grand Ledge. His interests include playing golf, and attending and watching sports of all kinds, especially Michigan State University baseball. Bruce enjoys writing and has finished four books Deuce the Beginning, Deuce 2 Bank Shot, Deuce 3 Full Count and Deuce 4 Turning 16. www.deucebookseries.com
